I am inspired by water for all its symbolism, metaphoric storytelling, and the life within and dependent on it. I capture the reflection distorted by the texture on the surface of the water. The surface acts like the camera. It flattens the referent; the reflection appears like a painting. The three-dimensional space is read in two dimensions, like the print. Dancing on the paper surface or the water surface, color and light move the minimalistic composition. The illusion of space pushes against the flat surface reiterating the photographic process within the image itself.
